breakthrough......

therez been so much happening....with my dissertation, did i tell u bout the new direction into knowledge retention? Well, that's what it is, with the HPA as my organization, before i get too excited, i saw a book i have to buy:(J. Liebowitz, Knowledge Retention: Strategies and Solutions, Auerbach, 2009). Today, i spoke with an EIS librarian, Vanessa Hill who pointed out certain things about whom to see concerning certain matters. Presently, John and I are working together, not as a group but independently towards the same course.

I have a new direction on the topic for my dissertation, which is organizational knowledge retention:towards achieving competitive advantage. Two weeks ago, my supervisor sent me feedback about getting an organization which could be used to direct my research, i am still undecided about using management consulting firms here or in Nigeria. i was very much surprised to see aboubakr today as i was on my way to the library, he reiterated about getting an organization either here or in nigeria which i have previously worked with so that i would be collect data from them. Only after i have done this, would we be able to know if he would supervise me, or i would have someone else as my supervisor. I was taken aback by this, but i would let God direct my steps in this dissertation. He knows the end from the beginning.

It's monday...6th of September and i am yet to receive feedback from Abou'bkr.... I know it is well and this dissertation is definitely going to be a distinction because i am the head and not the tail...i will be above only and not beneath....thus saith the Lord...
Now to my research, i have identified 4 research methods from Dawson 2000 which are: Action Research, Experiment, Case Study and Survey.
I would use either Research, Case Study or Survey research methods.
in addition, 3 characteristics of good research were identified which are Open minds, Critical analysis and Generalizations.
According to Dawson 2000, many good dissertations do no more than review systematically, and impose some structure on, a field of interest.

I have started some research on the topic for my dissertation,which is the relationship that exists between document management and knowledge management, however i have not made a clear cut path, i intend to follow for this topic. In fact the topic is still under construction. However, this blog is going to serve as my dump for materials i would come across during the period of my research, this would be my drawing board where, the needed materials would be separated from the ones that are not relevant to my dissertation. you follow??
